Build Now TALKS

Build Now hosts educational events at our model home at 5713 Elysian Fields Avenue. We invite guest speakers to provide information about topics that are on the minds of New Orleans residents. Build Now TALKS events are free and open to the public, but due to space considerations we request that you pre-register for the events you wish to attend. Our new program designed to get you into a brand new home on one of our lots in the Gentilly neighborhood. Build Now recently announced a new program that offers to build you a new house on one of our available lots in the Gentilly neighborhood. Own Now NOLA, the new program, will give special consideration to first time home buyers, teachers and first responders.

Build Now TALKS hosts an info session on basic financial health, tips and tricks on how to improve your credit, and what lenders are looking for in a credit file.

On December 15th Build Now will ring in the holiday season by hosting a gingerbread house making challenge at Tracey’s bar at 2604 Magazine Street in New Orleans. Come out and join Build Now on Saturday, May 21st from 12:00 to 4:00 p.m. as we host ArtHouse, a home and art tour featuring Build Now’s newly constructed homes. This event supports the community, its residents, and some of the very talented artists that live among us. Build Now has recently completed over thirty homes in hard hit neighborhoods throughout New Orleans and we are showcasing these homes for one day only. Over the past three years, Build Now has been working hard to bring New Orleanians back home to their neighborhoods and on May 19th, we invite the public to view our sites transformed by local artists into in-home galleries featuring some of New Orleans’ most exciting new artistic expressions.

Drink for a good cause at Pravda! The local bar will be donating a portion of the proceeds from all drinks sold to the Build Now Furnishing Fund. Donations will help families who lost everything in Hurricane Katrina purchase new furniture to furnish their brand new home.

Dillard University Housing Fair

Sponsored by the Dillard University Community Development Corporation, the fair featured exhibitors from various sectors of the housing world, as well as seminars on obtaining construction financing, selecting contractors, and how to understand your credit report.
